| I just listened to the St Helens chairman podcast earlier today which was very enjoyable. He spoke a lot of sense in that St Helens focus heavily on the youth set up. The best players are talent through their system with the signings made to complement them.
On the surface it seems like Ellis wants us to go down a similar route on investing in the facilities and academy/scholarship set up to both get the best players and long term reap the benefits from this.
It would be great to have more Harvey Smith, Ollie Pratts come through in the next 2-5 years.
It appears some foundations have been laid but with a new appointment seemingly on the horizon I’ll be interested to see how this side of the club progresses next few years. There’s a lot of talent in our area and we need to get the lions share of that.
I’ve seen some mention of training facilities and discussions with council but don’t know any detail.
Hopefully we hear some positive movements on this soon and have a plan.
Otherwise, are there any young players who look to be able to step up next year? We usually get 1/2 signings on full time contracts but I’m a bit out of touch with the current crop or if we have any outstanding talent in the set up.
Does anyone know anything on the above or feel like discussing their thoughts?

| The Matt Ellis Heritage Podcast went into to high level detail re the plans to bring everything together at one facility, an existing location has been identified and talks are on going. It sounds positive but Ellis kept his cards close to his chest.
