Thought we started quite well but didn’t make enough of possession at the Barriw end. Couple of sloppy defensive lapses let them in for a couple of tries, thought we were in for a hiding. But we managed a couple of late tries, second one following a great run from Small. 8-10.

Barrow are a big team with a decent full back and a number 6 (I think) who has a good kicking game but, that aside, I didn’t think they offered much threat. I thought ritson was with them : he’s very dangerous-perhaps injured. Anyway we worked hard. Batholith and Lovell did well. Our forwards cause problems for most teams and Smith and Tindall got more of the ball which is good. However despite being camped in their half for most of the game, making metres pretty easily and spending quite a lot of time in their 20 metre area we seem to struggle to pick teams apart. Barrow could have won that which is crazy. Pleased we got the win but in the spirit of negativity here are 3 issues I think need resolving. 1) Binks and our young players generally. Binks is game and has something but us crying out for game time at a handily placed lower tier or reserve side. But neither exist so he makes his errors in these closely fought games. Once again Monks and Winney get no game. Can we afford them learning on the job? Probably not but how will they improve. Contrast with Porter who picked up games up North ( and Ben HH). The matter is in his stride now and the former has hit the ground running. 2) Walker. Nuff respect to Walker a real stalwart for Broncos but he looks sluggish. Maybe carrying a knock or due a rest. 3) o Bearne. A key player/position. Won man of the match but I don’t know. Does lots right but at time his passing is pedestrian and I think his kicking is patchy. We definitely missed Poscelli and Brandon. A win’s a win though and they’re adding up.
Thought we deserved the win- just. Agree we got plenty of time in their 20m area but couldn’t do much with it. Decent Barrow kicker got them out of trouble- and us on the backfoot in the first half. O’Beirne had one knee strapped up and was limping at times in the first half. Still managed a 40:20. Bit of a patched up team but I thought everyone did their bit to keep Barrow out- it looked like they could run riot with their two tries in quick succession. Two London tries in a couple of minutes at the end of the first half got us back into the game.Tindall early on and a late one from Alex Walker got us the points. Nice to see us keep Barrow to nil in the second half. Felt we were at our best going out wide- they had a few big lumps in the middle.
Shame Widnes won, would have been nice to get closer to them in the table.
